Government of India has doubled pension paid under the Meritorious Sportsmen Scheme from 1.7.2008
All those currently drawing pension under the above scheme please forward details of your "wins" and "current pension amount" immediately to RFI Secretariate for submitting new application to Government of India, to help you draw enhanced pension

Scheme of Pension: -

[1] Gold Medal at the World Cup / World Championships / Asian games existing Rs.4000pm - New Rs. 8000pm

[2]Silver / Bronze Medal at the World Cup / World Championships existing Rs. 3500pm - new Rs. 7000pm

[3] Gold at the Asian / Commonwealth Games existing
Rs. 3500pm - new Rs. 7000pm

[4] Silver / Bronze at the Asian / Commonwealth Games existing Rs. 3000pm - new Rs. 6000pm

  32 .   Arjuna Award for Bajrang Lal Takhar    
     
 
Bajrang Lal Takhar has been awarded the Arjuna Award 2007 from Rowing He gets the award for his consistent good

performance in Sculling at the Asian Level where he has won a Silver at the Doha Asian Games in 2006, a gold at the Asian

championships at Chung Ju - south Korea in 2006 and a gold at the South Asian Games in Colombo also in 2006 The Arjuna

Award comprises Rs.3,00,000, a statute of the warrior Arjuna and a scroll of honour in recognition of outstanding

achievements at international level and for showing qualities of leadership, sportsmanship and sense of discipline. A

maximum of 15 sports persons are generally given this honour in a year in India. Hearty Congratulations from all in the India

Mr. Chacko Kandathil FISA International Umpire and member - Umpiring Commission of the Asian Rowing Federation will be the President of Jury for the 34th National Games

  35 .   34th National Games - Jharkhand - Competition Director - ROWING    
     
 
Mr. Ashok Mehta from West Bengal [WBG] has been appointed as "Competition Director" for the 34th National Games in Jharkhand. The rowing events will take place at the Maithon Dam near Dhanbad. Dates for the rowing events will be announced shortly along with qualifying criteria for states to send their entries.
